…Accuses Commissioner, senior officers of collusion, abuse of office
…Demands urgent probe into ‘unlawful and unconstitutional conduct’

Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has lodged a petition with the Police Service Commission (PSC), accusing the Commissioner of Police and senior officers of the Kaduna State Police Command of serious misconduct.

In the petition dated 8 September 2025, El-Rufai alleged that the Commissioner abused his office and worked in concert with political thugs who attacked him and his associates during a meeting in Kaduna on 30 August.

“I am writing as a citizen of Nigeria and former governor of Kaduna State to formally lodge this complaint and request an immediate, impartial, and exhaustive investigation into the unlawful and unconstitutional conduct of the Commissioner of Police and some officers of the Kaduna State Police Command,” El-Rufai stated.

The petition follows a deepening standoff between the former governor and the Kaduna Command. El-Rufai had previously accused the police of failing to intervene when suspected thugs disrupted an opposition meeting in Kaduna, injuring several attendees.

Reports last week revealed that the Command had invited El-Rufai and six senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning over allegations including criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous harm.

El-Rufai pressed the PSC to take decisive action, cautioning that unchecked abuse of power by police authorities posed a significant danger to democratic governance. He stressed that only an impartial investigation could restore public trust in the institution.

The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue an official response to the petition at the time of filing this report.
