El-Rufai breaks silence, says he has no regrets for supporting allies who abandoned him

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has broken his silence regarding the apparent detachment of former colleagues, friends, and family members amid his current circumstances.

In a personal statement titled “My Relationships and the Aftermath,” the former governor stated that he harbors no regrets or bitterness toward those who chose not to stand by him.

Addressing public observations about the silence of individuals he previously supported or closely associated with, El-Rufai explained that his past actions were driven by his Islamic faith, Arewa upbringing, personal values, and conscience, rather than an expectation of praise, gratitude, or reciprocity.

He noted that while some individuals may speak out, others choose silence, deny their past relationships, or attempt to rewrite history, but he refuses to judge them for differing expectations.

Reflecting on how difficult times illuminate relationships, El-Rufai stated that recent months have provided clarity without pushing him toward reproach or condemnation.

He emphasized that he bears no resentment toward anyone who chose not to reciprocate his past loyalty, preferring to remain true to his own principles rather than allowing the conduct of others to redefine him.

The former governor further maintained that he seeks neither revenge nor retribution for any injustice or ingratitude directed at him, choosing instead to leave ultimate accountability to Almighty Allah.

Concluding his statement, El-Rufai stressed that every individual must live with their choices, noting that his primary focus is maintaining peace with his conscience and his faith.
