Youths in Ekiti State have criticised Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji over his refusal to sponsor or support their participation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth League’s Loyalty Walk held in Abuja in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
One of the state coordinators of the APC Youth League, Ayobioloja Kehinde, expressed disappointment, stating that despite a formal request for partnership and support, the governor failed to acknowledge or assist their efforts.
“Ekiti State made a bold and unforgettable statement at the APC Youth League Loyalty Walk in Abuja, organised to demonstrate steadfast support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term,” Kehinde said.
“Against all odds, we proudly emerged as the third most represented state nationwide. This historic feat underscores the strength, unity, and determination of Ekiti youths.”
Kehinde noted that the achievement was even more remarkable given the absence of any financial, logistical, or moral backing from the state government.
“Despite sending official correspondence to the governor’s office seeking collaboration or even moral encouragement, we were met with silence,” he said.
He described the government’s lack of response as both discouraging and a disservice to the loyal and vibrant youth base that has consistently upheld the party’s image across the state and the country.
“Rather than let the government’s indifference deter us, it only fuelled our commitment,” he added. “With the help of devoted party leaders and supportive stakeholders who believe in youth potential, we made the journey to Abuja, proudly represented Ekiti, and captured national attention with our organisation, dedication, and loyalty.”
The youth delegation expressed deep appreciation to those leaders who sponsored and supported the trip, noting that their contribution would be remembered positively in the annals of party history.
They described the Tinubu Loyalty Walk not only as a successful mobilisation effort but also as a powerful showcase of youth influence and political engagement.
“Ekiti showed up, stood proud, and made its mark, with or without the government’s support,” Kehinde said.
