The Executive Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Aare Taoheed Adebayo Taiwo (T.A.T), on Tuesday presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the 6th Legislative Council of the LCDA, outlining a N12.9 billion budget proposal focused on development, transparency and improved service delivery.

The budget presentation took place at the Legislative Chamber of the Ejigbo LCDA Secretariat, before the House led by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Oluwaseyi Shobande, alongside other councillors, top management staff and key stakeholders.

Christened “The Budget of Renewed Hope and Accountability,” the proposed ₦12,905,971,987.45 budget is designed to consolidate ongoing development efforts while advancing people-centred governance across critical sectors of the council.

Presenting the fiscal proposal, Taiwo described the 2026 budget as a consolidation and advancement plan aimed at deepening service delivery, strengthening institutions and ensuring prudent management of public resources in line with public finance best practices.

He explained that the budget framework aligns with the administration’s SHIELD Agenda, which prioritises Security, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Education and Youth Development, Environmental Sustainability, Local Economic Empowerment and Digital Governance as drivers of inclusive growth and sustainable development in Ejigbo LCDA.

On security, the council boss said the budget makes provisions for solar-powered street lighting, community-based intelligence structures, peace-building initiatives, and strengthened collaboration with security agencies to enhance safety for residents and businesses.

In the health sector, Taiwo disclosed plans for the rehabilitation and equipping of Primary Health Centres, improved access to essential drugs, expansion of maternal and child healthcare programmes, community immunisation campaigns, and the provision of free antenatal and postnatal services for vulnerable residents.

He added that the proposed capital projects would focus on road construction and rehabilitation, drainage expansion and flood control, extension of public lighting, renovation of public schools, and upgrades to community and civic facilities across the LCDA.

Addressing education and youth development, the chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to human capital development through school renovations, free examination preparatory programmes, vocational and technical skills training, ICT partnerships, and structured youth empowerment and innovation initiatives.

Taiwo also identified environmental management as a key priority, noting planned interventions in waste evacuation, desilting of drains, erosion control, sanitation campaigns, and greening and beautification projects to promote a cleaner and more resilient environment.

On local economic development, he revealed plans to support traders and artisans through soft grants and micro-support schemes, strengthen market infrastructure, support small and medium enterprises, and improve digital revenue systems to boost internally generated revenue without increasing the financial burden on residents.

Emphasising accountability, the chairman said the administration would continue to expand digital governance initiatives, including automated revenue collection, digital service platforms, enhanced institutional communication and increased citizen participation in governance.

He urged members of the Legislative Council to give the bill timely consideration, assuring that his administration remains committed to fiscal discipline, transparent procurement processes, and the delivery of measurable projects that directly improve the lives of Ejigbo residents.
