A domestic violence survivor has spoken out following a brutal assault in Festac, Lagos, drawing widespread reactions on social media.
The survivor, identified by her TikTok handle @anniesglowlagos, shared her experience in a video that quickly gained attention online.
The incident prompted a response from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), the body responsible for addressing sexual and gender-based violence in the state.
According to reports, the assault occurred on March 21, 2026, and was subsequently reported to the FESTAC Police Station Tactical Squad and the Family Support Unit (FSU).
The survivor alleged that her estranged partner physically attacked her, causing severe injuries, including the loss of a finger.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and arraigned before a court. The case was heard on March 25, 2026, at Court 6, MBA Ajegunle, where the defendant was remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre.
The court granted bail in the sum of ₦200,000 with two sureties, pending the next hearing scheduled for April 29, 2026.
The survivor, who is said to be traumatised by the incident, has been referred for psychosocial support to aid her recovery.
The DSVA urged members of the public to report cases of abuse and support efforts to combat sexual and gender-based violence.
“If you see something, say something. SGBV – It concerns us all,” the agency stated.
The case has renewed conversations around domestic violence and the need for stronger community response to protect victims.
