Workers in the Delta health sector have assured President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of their support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The workers disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting on Friday in Asaba.
They said that their support was based on the positive impact of their administrations on healthcare delivery and workers’ welfare.
Speaking at the meeting, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, commended Oborevwori for his interventions in the health sector.
He further added that the support for his second-term ambition followed the massive investments in the sector.
The commissioner urged health personnel across the state to remain committed to their professional responsibilities.
He, however, called for continuous support for policies and programmes designed to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the welfare of residents.
Addressing the workers, Chief Sunday Onoriode, the Director of Protocol, Government House, lauded the health workers for their dedication and sacrifices in caring for patients and sustaining healthcare services across the state.
“Take the message of President Tinubu and Oborevwori to your communities and mobilise support for both leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.”
Onoriode described their endorsement as an appreciation of the contributions of the two administrations to governance, development and the welfare of Nigerians.
He assured that the Oborevwori administration would continue to deliver on its promises through the MORE Agenda.
According to him, the governor’s policies and programmes were aimed at improving the living conditions of residents.
Dr Paul Oweh, Chairman of the Delta State Hospitals Management Board, lauded the state government for the improved working environment for health professionals.
Other speakers at the event endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration at the federal and state levels.
They particularly lauded the state government for improving access to healthcare services among other interventions.
Speaking on the Ebola virus disease, the State Epidemiologist, Dr Mildred Okowa-Igumbor, called for vigilance and urged residents to observe preventive measures.
Okowa-Igumbor confirmed that no case of Ebola had been recorded in the state.
She reiterated the need for sustained public awareness, early reporting of suspected cases, and strict adherence to health guidelines.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Oborevwori by the state chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives in recognition of his administration’s contributions to the health sector.
Newsmen report that stakeholders at the meeting assessed developments in the health sector, professional responsibilities and government policies.
