Datti Baba-Ahmed hints at defection to PRP

The 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has announced his intention to defect to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, the former senator cited internal disagreements and a shift in the party’s original ideals as his reasons for leaving.

Baba-Ahmed accused the current administration of destabilizing opposition parties and stated that his exit would take effect at midnight.

Highlighting the PRP’s 75-year history, he described it as his new destination.

Baba-Ahmed, who previously served in the House of Representatives and the Senate, gained significant national prominence during the 2023 elections alongside Peter Obi.
