In a bid to foster stakeholder engagement, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) in charge of Cross river/Calabar free zone Command/ Akwa Ibom, Comptroller Momodu Dauda paid a working visit to Tinapa on Monday, 12 January 2026.

The working visit was aimed at giving first-hand insights of operational activities within the Tinapa Free Zone, evaluating compliance with Customs laws and regulations; strengthening the existing synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Free Trade Zone operators.

The CAC during his address, reassured of the commitment of the Service in facilitating trade, protecting investments and promoting a conducive business environment while still maintaining a firm stance against smuggling and other forms of illegal economic crimes. He noted that “the above remains the Services’ core principle and foreseeing its execution, is an obligation”.

During the interaction with the Customs Area Controller, the General Manager of Tinapa Resort and Free Trade Zone, Dr Frances Ekom affirmed the development of Tinapa agreeing to its vision being achievable despite its 15years setback; “renewed stakeholder commitment is driving its comeback”. He stated. He emphasised on the Services’ significant efforts and applauded its engagement in repositioning Tinapa for greater success and economic impact.

The CAC pledged his dedication to remain committed in promoting the vision and policy direction of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi through proper dissemination of his mandate.

In aligning with the vision of the Service, the CAC assured stakeholders of sustained engagement, professionalism and support from the command. He noted, “ the command under his watch remains steadfast in revenue generation, trade facilitation, border security and will give its best while fostering economic growth.
