Court ruling on party deregistration an abuse of courtprocess — Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described the Federal High Court judgment deregistering five political parties as an abuse of court process and a direct violation of a subsisting orderof the Court of Appeal.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the Governor explained that the appellate court had previously ordered a stay of proceedings on the matter. 

He expressed surprise that the lower court proceeded to deliver its judgment despite the intervention of the Court of Appeal.

The Governor urged the public to remain calm, noting that the Court of Appeal is scheduled to hear the matter on Tuesday. 

He assured residents that any attempt to hinder the people of Osun from exercising their democratic rights would fail.

“I call on the people of Osun to remain calm and be assured that our rights will be affirmed and our party, Accord, will be on the ballot on August 15th.”  

“We will not only be on the ballot, but we will also win the upcoming governorship election convincingly. We must stay focused and continue mobilising our people,” Adeleke stated.

He further assured supporters that the official launch of his re-election campaign would proceed as planned, dismissing the judicial development as a political distraction.

The Governor added that his legal team is already taking all necessary steps to challenge the judgment and protect his candidacy under the Accord Party.
