A Federal High Court in Lagos has discharged and acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, of all charges in his long-standing money laundering trial.
The court, on Tuesday morning, upheld a no-case submission filed by Fayose’s legal team, ruling that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) failed to establish a prima facie case against him.
Fayose was accused of money laundering and fraud during his tenure as governor. However, after years of legal proceedings, the court concluded that the evidence provided by the prosecution was insufficient to warrant further defence.
The ruling brings an end to the case, clearing the former governor of all allegations.
