The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed a nationwide list of its state chairmen.
In a statement on Sunday, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, described the report as “fake news” deliberately planted to sow confusion and mislead the public.
“INEC has neither issued nor validated any such list, officially or unofficially,” Abdullahi declared.
The ADC spokesman stressed that the process of constituting and ratifying state leadership is an internal matter governed strictly by the party’s constitution.
“The process of constituting and ratifying state leadership within any political party lies squarely within the party’s constitutional prerogative. INEC only recognises what the party submits through the appropriate channels after due process. As of today, no such comprehensive list has been submitted or confirmed by INEC,” he explained.
Abdullahi urged party members to remain calm and disregard the false report.
“The public is advised to disregard the fake list in circulation. Any authentic update regarding party structure will be communicated via our verified channels,” he added.
The ADC assured members that it remains committed to internal democracy, warning against distractions intended to destabilise the party.
