CAC systems hit by cybersecurity breach

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has confirmed a cybersecurity breach involving unauthorised access to parts of its digital infrastructure, triggering an immediate containment and investigation process.

In a public notice, the Commission said the incident affected limited aspects of its systems but stressed that response protocols were swiftly activated to minimise risks. It added that it is working closely with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and other relevant bodies to assess the scope and impact of the breach.

According to the agency, containment measures have already been implemented, alongside additional safeguards to protect the integrity of its corporate registry and digital platforms.

The CAC also issued an advisory to stakeholders, urging them to monitor their records on the portal, update login credentials, and remain cautious of suspicious emails or unsolicited communications.

While details of the breach remain under review, the Commission reassured the public of its commitment to data security and transparency, promising to provide updates as investigations progress.

The development highlights growing concerns around cybersecurity threats to government institutions as agencies increasingly rely on digital platforms for service delivery and data management.
