Businessman arraigned over alleged N3.5 million fraud

 A 24-year old man, Daniel Thomas, was on Thursday arraigned before a Wuse Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, over alleged fraud of N3.5 million.

Thomas, a businessman residing in Gwarinpa, Abuja, is being charged with breach of trust, cheating and intimidation, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, C.C. Okafor told the court that the defendant committed the offence in 2024 at Jikwoyi, Abuja

Okafor further said that Thomas and others now at large, defrauded Mr Emokpaire Enahoro of N3.5 million with the pretext of purchasing a piece of land

“They failed to purchase the land, and converted the money to their personal use, they ran away, but Thomas was later apprehended,” he said.

The prosecutor said that during interrogation, the defendant confessed to have committed the offence.

The Magistrate, Mr M. A.  Saddeeq, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1.7 million, with two sureties in like sum.

Saddeeq ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and adjourned the case until July 25 for hearing
