Borno police renew anti-terror fight after burial of slain officers

The Borno State Police Command has reaffirmed its resolve to intensify operations against insurgents following the burial of four officers killed during a foiled terrorist attack in Nganzai Local Government Area.

The commitment was reiterated on April 5, 2026, in Maiduguri during the burial of Inspector Samuel Ezekiel of Nganzai Division, Inspector Sanusi Mohammed of 58 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Lafiya, Police Constable Bitrus Luka, and Police Constable Shaibu Bukar of Crack Squad BRS.

The burial ceremonies, held at Kawar Maila Burial Ground and the Maximum Security Prison Burial Ground, were attended by senior police officers, families of the deceased and sympathisers, highlighting the sacrifices of security personnel in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, represented by senior officers including the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, ACP Jawi A. Mohammed, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to ensure the deaths of the officers were not in vain.

Religious leaders from the Command Chaplaincies, CSP Bukar M. Gajibo (Imam) and CSP Theophilus Mutum (Chaplain), led prayers for the fallen officers, seeking divine mercy for their souls and strength for their families.

The Command described the deceased as dedicated officers who stood firm in the face of danger, noting that their actions helped prevent further casualties during the attack.

The ceremony also served as a call for public cooperation with security agencies as efforts continue to restore peace in Borno State.
