The Bayelsa State Government has cautioned Mr. Doubara Kumokou against making public statements on behalf of the state’s youths, warning that he lacks the authority to do so.

In a statement signed by the Director-General of the Bayelsa State Centre for Youth Development, Mr. Robert Igali, JP, the government dissociated itself from a recent birthday message Kumokou addressed to former Governor Chief Timipre Sylva, in which he claimed to speak on behalf of Bayelsa youths.

Mr. Igali described the message as “absurd” and “a breach of protocol,” stressing that Kumokou’s action amounts to misrepresentation and an affront to institutional order.

He clarified that only constitutionally recognised officials, including the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development and the Director-General of the Centre, are empowered to speak for the collective interests of Bayelsa youths.

The DG condemned the act as a distortion of established structures and warned that further attempts to usurp official responsibilities would attract appropriate sanctions.

He urged young people in the state to remain focused and channel their energies through legitimate and recognised leadership structures founded on truth, service, and accountability.

Mr. Igali reiterated the Centre’s commitment to upholding institutional integrity and ensuring that the voices of Bayelsa youths are represented through the right and lawful avenues.
