Atiku denies quitting 2027 presidential race for Obi

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports claiming he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race in favour of Peter Obi.

The reports suggested that Atiku would step aside to support Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, for a one-term presidency in the interest of regional balance.

However, Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, rejected the claims, describing them as “fake news.”

On Saturday, December 27, Ibe posted a screenshot of the story on his verified X account, writing: “Fake news: Not on the menu!”

The clarification comes amid reports that Peter Obi now plans to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
