Asaba runway landing: NSIB begins probe, recovers black box

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, (NSIB) has commenced a probe into the landing of a private jet outside of airport territory in Asaba, Delta State.
A statement by the Bureau revealed that it has recovered both the Cockpit Voice Recorder CVT and Flight Data Recorder FDR from the Bombardier Challenger aircraft, operated by VMO Aero Limited.
According to the Bureau, the black boxes have now been secured for detailed analysis.
Investigators are also collecting operational, maintenance, and air traffic control records.
NSIB Director General, Captain Alex Badeh emphasised that the recovery of the recorders is critical to establishing the facts of the incident.
He reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to advancing aviation safety in Nigeria.
The Bureau appeals to the public with photos, videos, CCTV footage, or eyewitness accounts to send information to them
It could be recalled that the private aircraft landed on a roadway near Asaba, Delta State, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, while on a flight from Lagos to Asaba. The aircraft later departed the roadway with no fatalities or serious injuries.
