The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has asserted that genuine value creation in the oil and gas sector requires more than just asset ownership.
Speaking at the 2026 Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria (NAEC) Energy Conference in Lagos, PETAN’s Publicity Secretary, Dr. Joan Faluyi, emphasized that as local operators acquire more assets, domestic service providers must be fully integrated to handle the technical operations.
“Our members bring the technical expertise and field experience to do this, creating jobs and retaining value in Nigeria. With the right investment and enabling environment, they can take on larger and more complex scopes,” she said.
Faluyi praised NAEC for maintaining robust public discourse on critical energy issues and fostering collaboration between policymakers, operators, and service providers.
She expressed optimism that the conference deliberations would yield practical commitments to deepen local content across the entire value chain.
Concluding her remarks, Faluyi congratulated the recipients of the NAEC Industry Awards and urged industry stakeholders to translate expanded local access into sustainable opportunities for Nigeria’s energy sector.
