Armed robbery, rape: Court continues trial as case comes up for the third hearing

Proceedings continued before the High Court of Lagos State, Ikoyi Judicial Division, as the criminal trial involving charges of conspiracy, armed robbery, rape, and threat to life came up for its third hearing.

The prosecution is prosecuting Chigozie Emeka, who is standing trial in connection with the attack on the residence of Mrs. Adenike Florence Aborishade in Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in the early hours of January 4, 2018, when a group of armed men invaded the complainant’s residence after overpowering the security guard and forcing their way into the building. The prosecution stated that the assailants made away with jewellery, electronic gadgets, and cash valued at several millions of naira.

The prosecution further stated that the complainant was raped and sustained injuries during the attack.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Chigozie Emeka, who was subsequently arraigned before the High Court of Lagos State under Charge No. H/IK/35/2018 on charges of conspiracy, armed robbery, rape, and threat to life.

At the third sitting of the case, the prosecution continued the presentation of its evidence before the court. The matter was thereafter adjourned to a later date for continuation of trial.
