Ekiti court sentence two men to 30 days imprisonment

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate‘s Court has sentenced two men, Adebiyi Olusola and Oguntola John, to 30 days’ imprisonment for roaming naked in public.

The convicts were arraigned on a one-count charge of conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, contrary to Section 181(1)(d)(h) of the Ekiti State Laws, 2021.

The police prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the offence was committed at about 4:00 a.m. on July 13, 2026, in the Palace Area of Ado-Ekiti.

According to the prosecutor, the two men were seen walking naked around the palace vicinity and along a public highway within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District, an act capable of causing a breach of public peace.

The defendants pleaded guilty when the charge was read to them in court. Their counsel, Ogunleye Abiola, represented them during the proceedings.

In his judgment, Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adosun held that the prosecution had established its case beyond reasonable doubt, noting that the defendants’ guilty plea further reinforced the evidence against them.

The judge convicted and sentenced both men to 30 days’ imprisonment without the option of a fine.
