Popular Nigerian activist and publisher, Omoyele Sowore, and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman, are locked in a fresh legal and verbal battle over allegations linked to staged miracles.
Sowore disclosed that Apostle Suleman has filed a new lawsuit against him following a controversy arising from an interview aired on the KAA Truths platform, in which claims were made about pastors allegedly staging fake miracles.
According to Sowore, this is the second time the cleric has taken him to court over matters connected to his ministry and personal reputation.
He recalled an earlier suit involving a Canada-based woman, Stephanie Otobo, which he said dragged on for nearly eight years before Otobo was eventually removed from the case.
“Of all the issues raised, the question of the so-called miracles will be the easiest to prove in court,” Sowore stated, insisting that he was ready to defend his publications.
However, Apostle Suleman strongly rejected Sowore’s claims, describing them as false, malicious and driven by a desire for attention. In a blistering response, the cleric accused Sowore of spreading unverified allegations to generate traffic and relevance.
Reacting to Sowore’s post, Suleman said, “Calling you an activist makes activism look classless. You are nothing but a tout. You rushed to amplify a senseless and medically impossible claim simply because my name was mentioned.”
The pastor explained that the allegations originated from a podcast guest who claimed that a former pastor staged miracles using injections that caused temporary death and resurrection.
Suleman said the individual later came out publicly to deny ever meeting him and dismissed the claims as untrue.
Despite this, Suleman said Sowore refused to retract the publication even after formal requests, prompting him to instruct his lawyers to institute legal action.
“The matter is now before a court of competent jurisdiction. He who alleges must prove,” the cleric said.
Suleman also warned that the current suit may not be the last, revealing that he has directed his legal team to review all past publications by Sowore which he considers defamatory.
“I have ignored you for years, but every defamatory publication you have made against me will now be addressed through lawful means,” he added.
The outspoken pastor further accused Sowore of harbouring an anti-Christian and anti-church agenda, claiming Nigerians were not deceived by what he described as “false activism”.
