The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially declared that the existing zoning arrangement for its National Working Committee (NWC) positions remains in full effect for the upcoming 2026 National Convention.
This clarification serves as a definitive guide for the party’s internal transition process, ensuring that the distribution of national offices continues to follow the established geopolitical and state-level quotas.
In a statement released on Monday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, emphasized that this decision aligns with the published Schedule of Nationwide Congresses and National Convention Activities.
The party’s leadership underscored that the validity of the current zoning structure is intended to maintain regional balance and party cohesion as the APC prepares to elect new officers to steer its affairs in the coming years.
The party has also issued a directive to all aspirants who are currently purchasing or submitting Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
The APC leadership warned that candidates must be strictly guided by the existing zoning formula when vying for specific national offices.
By reaffirming these guidelines early in the process, the party aims to streamline the convention proceedings and prevent the internal friction that often arises from contested zoning claims, thereby ensuring a predictable and orderly transition at the national level.
