APC planning to pressure INEC to end voting early — Imole Campaign Council alleges

The Imole Campaign Council has raised alarm over an alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) into ending voting by 12:00 noon in selected local government areas during the upcoming August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday, the campaign council’s spokesman, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., claimed that the targeted areas represent political strongholds of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

According to the council, the scheme aims to suppress voter turnout and disenfranchise thousands of eligible voters across the state.

Olajengbesi condemned the alleged scheme, describing it as a desperate attempt to manipulate the electoral process after previous judicial challenges and political maneuvers failed to weaken public support for Governor Adeleke and the Accord Party.

The campaign council called on INEC to remain resolute, resist any external political pressure, and ensure that voting rules and official timelines are applied uniformly across all polling units in Osun State.

Olajengbesi emphasized that no polling unit should be closed prematurely while eligible voters who arrived within the stipulated time frame are waiting to cast their ballots.

He urged civil society organizations, election observers, international monitors, and the media to maintain close surveillance over the process to safeguard democratic standards and protect the integrity of the vote.
