The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured victory in the Kaura Namoda South constituency by-election, with its candidate, Kamilu Sa’idu, emerging winner after a supplementary poll concluded on Thursday.

According to the official result announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Lawal Sa’adu, Sa’idu polled 8,182 votes to defeat his closest rival from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 5,544 votes. The election followed a rescheduled supplementary poll in two registration areas covering five polling units.

Reacting to the outcome, Alhaji Shaaya’u Sarkinfawa, Coordinator of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari’s constituency office, congratulated the APC and its candidate, commending supporters for their unwavering loyalty. He described the victory as a reflection of the party’s strong presence in Zamfara and its commitment to addressing the needs of residents, particularly in healthcare, education, and road infrastructure.

“This is a pride for the entire APC members in Zamfara, and I believe that more victories will follow in future elections,” Sarkinfawa said. He noted that despite the cancellation of some polling units in the initial by-election, voters reaffirmed their support for the APC during the supplementary exercise.

He further praised the large voter turnout and the peaceful conduct of the election, urging the newly elected lawmaker to serve as a worthy representative of both his constituency and the party.
