Gov. Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has praised the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for sustaining operations that have eliminated bandits and other criminals across the state and neighbouring areas.

Aliyu gave the commendation on Saturday at the 2025 Base Socio-Cultural Activities, BASA, organised by the NAF 119 Composite Group in Sokoto.

Represented by Dr Daddi Adare, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the governor reaffirmed support for security agencies combating crime statewide.

The Commander, 119 Composite Group, Group Capt. Harry Gumut, said BASA showcased the Air Force’s rich culture and strengthened civil-military relations.

Gumut said the event also highlighted NAF achievements, aimed at motivating personnel for “greater performance in the coming year”.

He assured residents of increased commitment to protecting lives and property, urging communities to share intelligence to address security challenges.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, represented by Alhaji Sani Umar-Jabbi, commended the NAF’s cordial relationship with host communities.

He pledged continued support for the Air Force and other agencies, describing BASA as “a well-organised exercise that promotes unity”.
