This was contained in a statement on Wednesday signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy.

It reads: “President Tinubu extends his condolences to the management and staff of Afriland Properties Limited, the FIRS, UBA, and particularly those who lost loved ones in the inferno, and the injured who are currently receiving medical attention.

“The President commends the emergency responders, including the Federal Fire Service, first aiders, medical personnel, and members of the public, for their quick intervention and notes their deep sense of responsibility during the evacuation. President Tinubu advises more caution, training, and alertness to avert such emergencies in the future. The President prays that God Almighty will receive the souls of the departed and grant quick recovery to the injured.”

According to the statement, the President specifically acknowledged the heroic efforts of the emergency responders who rushed to the scene, helping to evacuate occupants and contain the blaze before it could spread further.

President Tinubu also called on corporate offices and public institutions to review safety protocols and ensure staff are adequately trained to respond to similar emergencies. He stressed that heightened vigilance is essential to prevent recurrence of such disasters in densely populated business districts.

Families of the deceased and injured have been assured of support, while the President offered prayers for those affected, emphasising the nation’s shared grief.

The statement further noted the importance of coordinated emergency responses and community alertness in saving lives during critical incidents.
