The Executive Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu has been suspended from office over allegations of gross misconduct, insubordination, and failure to present financial records.

The motion, moved by Hon. Asalu Aina Musediq, who represents Ota Ward 2, was presented during plenary on Wednesday, October 30, 2025. Lawmakers accused the chairman of repeatedly refusing to submit the council’s income and expenditure accounts despite several official requests.

After deliberations, the legislative arm resolved to suspend Alhaji Wasiu for three months pending investigation. The Vice Chairman, Hon. Abosede Balogun, was immediately directed to assume duties as Acting Chairman.

The council said the matter has been formally transmitted to the Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the State House of Assembly, and relevant security agencies for further action.
