The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Prof. Idayat Bolanle Owolabi, a Nigerian-born academic, on her historic recognition by His Majesty, King Charles III, of the United Kingdom.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, NiDCOM, on Thursday.
The statement reads partly: “Prof. Idayat Bolanle Owolabi’s success powerfully underscores the immense talent in our diaspora community. We are proud of her and anticipate even greater achievements ahead.
“Her recognition reflects not just her professional distinction but also the global impact Nigerians continue to make through hard work, excellence, and integrity.

Dabiri-Erewa described the award as a milestone achievement and a testament to the global relevance of Nigerian professionals excelling across the world.
She noted that Prof. Owolabi, a distinguished graduate of the University of Ibadan, was recently conferred with the title of Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours 2025 for her exceptional contributions to the health sector in the United Kingdom.
According to the Commission, the recognition represents a moment of pride for Nigeria and a reflection of the extraordinary value that Nigerians in the diaspora continue to add to global development.
