Governor Ademola Adeleke is expected to be formally unveiled today as the Accord Party’s candidate for the 2026 Osun governorship election.
The announcement will be made during the party’s governorship primary scheduled to hold on Wednesday in Osogbo.
The Osun State chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, confirmed the development, saying the governor remains the only aspirant in the race.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke is our sole candidate for the 2026 governorship election. We are declaring him today,” Akande told journalists.
He explained that about 150 delegates would participate in the exercise.
“The delegates are five from each of the 30 local government areas of the state,” he added.
Governor Adeleke had earlier disclosed that he had chosen the Accord Party as his new political platform after defecting in November. He made the declaration during a meeting with national and state leaders of the party at the Government House, Osogbo, on Tuesday.
The governor said his decision followed weeks of consultations with political stakeholders and community leaders. He also confirmed his intention to seek a second term in office under the Accord Party banner.
