ABU, NAHCON partner on MBA in Hajj Operations Management

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) have partnered to introduce an MBA programme in Hajj Operations Management aimed at strengthening professional capacity
The collaboration is aimed at enhancing professional skills, research and institutional capacity in the administration and management of Hajj operations in Nigeria.
Director of Public Affairs Directorate, ABU, Malam Auwalu Umar, made this known in a statement issued on Friday in Zaria.
Umar said the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by ABU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, on behalf of the university, while NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Ismail Yusuf, signed for the commission.
He said the programme would be delivered through the ABU Distance Learning Centre in collaboration with the NAHCON Hajj Institute of Nigeria.
According to him, the initiative would provide structured academic training to improve the planning, coordination and overall management of Hajj and Umrah operations.
Umar said ABU and NAHCON would jointly develop and review the curriculum, deliver specialised courses, organise executive training, seminars, internships and field attachments, while encouraging research, innovation and international cooperation.
He said the university would take responsibility for academic matters, including accreditation, admission of qualified candidates, appointment of lecturers, examinations, approval of results and award of the MBA degree.
Umar added that ABU would also provide academic support services and quality assurance mechanisms to ensure the programme meets global standards and produces competent professionals in Hajj management.
He said NAHCON, through the Hajj Institute of Nigeria, would provide technical expertise, engage experienced practitioners as adjunct lecturers and support practical learning through field visits and internship placements.
Umar noted that both institutions would also promote research from the programme while ensuring the protection of intellectual property and authorship rights in line with the agreement.
