Enugu Gov’t set to recruit over 6,500 teachers for Smart Green School

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has approved the recruitment of over 6,500 qualified candidates into various academic, technical, and administrative positions across public primary and secondary schools in the state.

The massive recruitment exercise is aimed at providing the necessary human resources to power the administration’s flagship 267 Smart Green Schools initiative and overhaul basic education across Enugu.

The announcement was contained in an official statement issued by the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Prof. Hyginus Okibe Banko, and shared by the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Governor, Dan Nwomeh.

According to the board, required qualifications for teaching roles include a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, a Bachelor’s Degree/HND with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in specified subject areas.

Proof of registration or ongoing registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is mandatory for teaching applicants.

The board further specified that vacancies also exist for National Diploma (OND) and SSCE/WASSCE holders for auxiliary and administrative roles.

All applicants applying for Degree or HND positions must possess a valid NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate. 

Additionally, candidates across all cadres are required to demonstrate practical proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools.

Interested job seekers are instructed to submit a formal application letter along with a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional credentials, a birth certificate or sworn declaration of age, and valid contact details.

Applicants can submit hard copies directly to the Office of the Executive Chairman at ENSUBEB headquarters in Enugu, or send a single PDF compilation via email.

The board set the deadline for all application submissions for Friday, August 14, 2026.
