Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared that the safety and peaceful coexistence of all residents across the state remain non-negotiable priorities for his administration.
He emphasized that the state government is committed to leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that security is guaranteed in every community.
The Governor made these remarks during the formal presentation of the staff of office to the newly appointed Oniganmo of Ganmo, Oba Kamaldeen Jimoh Akanbi.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Hon. Abubakar Abdullahi Bata, the Governor charged the new monarch to prioritize the promotion of peace and unity within his domain.
Addressing the traditional ruler, Governor AbdulRazaq advised Oba Akanbi to see his throne as a position of service, sacrifice, and responsibility rather than a mere symbol of authority.
He urged the monarch to extend a hand of fellowship to all former contestants and interest groups to foster reconciliation.
The Governor noted that leadership at this level requires inclusiveness to ensure that no member of the community feels alienated in the pursuit of progress.
Highlighting the critical link between traditional institutions and regional stability, the Governor admonished the monarch to remain vigilant and collaborate closely with security agencies, community leaders, and vigilante groups.
He stressed that a united and secure community serves as the bedrock for any meaningful development and that the monarch’s role as a bridge between the government and the grassroots is vital for mobilizing support for public welfare programs.
The Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, added that the selection of the new Oniganmo followed a transparent process involving detailed scrutiny and wide consultations in accordance with chieftaincy guidelines.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Kamaldeen Jimoh Akanbi expressed his gratitude to the state government and pledged to justify the trust reposed in him by fostering harmony and driving development throughout the Ganmo community.
