The Kwara State Government has approved the 2026 promotion for 5,956 teaching and non-teaching staff under the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) to boost the morale of teachers.
This was made known in a statement issued in Ilorin by the Executive Chairman of the Board, Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, who announced that the promotion letters for the affected workers had been released.
Adaramaja stated that the promotions for the affected employees would be cash-backed with effect from October of this year across the state.
He explained that the beneficiaries are to collect their promotion letters from the Education Secretaries in their respective local government areas.
It will be recalled that the board conducted a Computer-Based Test (CBT) promotion exercise for deserving workers following approval by the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The statement further noted that the gesture forms part of Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to boosting workforce morale and enhancing service delivery to improve the standard of education in the state.
According to the chairman, “Let me put it on record that apart from the prompt payment of monthly salaries, regular training and retraining of teachers, and approval of the implementation of the 27.5% Teachers’ Specific Allowance (TSA), Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has consistently implemented promotions for teachers from 2017 to date.”
“This includes the arrears of SUBEB staff promotions inherited from the previous administration. The governor has also settled 34.5% of salary arrears accrued from the installment payments inherited from the past administration.”
“The government is taking every step within available resources to drive efficient performance among students in public basic schools. This is partly achievable when their teachers are well taken care of,” he said.
The SUBEB Chairman commended the governor for granting approval for the conduct of the CBT promotion exercise for the 2026 category of basic school teachers and for the continued support given to the board to excel.
