Abdul Samad Rabiu set to receive N324bn, as BUA Cement declares record dividend

The audited financial results of BUA Cement Plc for the 2025 fiscal year have paved the way for a massive personal windfall for its Chairman and founder, Abdul Samad Rabiu.
Following a year of explosive growth where the company’s Profit After Tax skyrocketed by 382% to reach N356.04 billion, the Board of Directors has proposed a record-breaking final dividend of N10.00 per ordinary share.
For the billionaire Chairman, this payout represents one of the largest single-year dividend earnings in the history of the Nigerian capital market.
Based on his direct and indirect majority shareholding in the company, Abdul Samad Rabiu is positioned to earn approximately N324.3 billion in dividend income.
This staggering figure is a direct reflection of his significant stake in the firm, which produced a top-line revenue of N1.18 trillion during the year under review.
The proposed payout highlights the massive turnaround in BUA Cement’s financial health over the last twelve months.
In 2024, the Chairman’s dividend earnings were significantly lower, following a N2.05 per share declaration amidst heavy foreign exchange losses.
However, by neutralizing those currency pressures and expanding production capacity to 17 million metric tonnes per annum, the company has generated enough cash, N280.4 billion in cash and equivalents to facilitate this ambitious N10.00 per share distribution.
Market analysts note that the scale of Rabiu’s earnings underscores the rewards of his aggressive expansion strategy, including the recent commissioning of new production lines in Sokoto and Edo states.
The dividend, totaling a multi-billion naira commitment to all shareholders, is scheduled for payment on May 21, 2026, pending formal approval at the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting.
With this liquidity injection, Abdul Samad Rabiu is well-positioned to further fund his philanthropic initiatives through the ASR Africa Foundation or reinvest into the BUA Group’s growing industrial empire, which now includes a 3 MMTPA greenfield plant currently under construction.
The N324 billion payout not only cements his status as one of Africa's wealthiest industrials but also serves as a strong signal of confidence to the investing public regarding the long-term profitability of the BUA brand.
