700 Women trained in ICT as First Lady commends turnout

No fewer than 700 women in Jigawa State have benefited from a comprehensive two-day ICT training organized by the Digital Community Fair.
The event, themed "Empowering Communities Through Digital Inclusion," aimed to integrate women and youths into the digital economy.
The training, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Dutse, was chaired by the First Lady of Jigawa State, Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi.
Speaking at the event, Hajiya Amina Namadi noted that while the initial target for the workshop was 300 participants, the attendance surged to over 700.
She described the massive turnout as proof that women in Jigawa are eager to embrace the digital society to boost their economic standing.
The First Lady revealed that interest in the program was overwhelming, with over 49,000 applications received.
She explained that the primary objective of the workshop was to drive digital transformation in the state, adding that the digital sector serves as a vital tool for promoting education.
She charged small business owners and other groups to leverage the training to enhance their enterprises.
"I urge you not to neglect the knowledge acquired here. This is a novel opportunity for you and the state. Use this to engage yourselves in learning, as it will help improve your economic activities," she advised.
Also speaking, the convener of the training, Hajiya Maryam Lawan Gwadabe, confirmed that the program was originally designed for 300 women but had to expand to accommodate the 700 attendees.
She expressed gratitude to the Jigawa State Government for sponsoring the program for the benefit of its citizens.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Hadiza T. Abdulwahab, represented by Director Hajiya Hauwa Babura, encouraged the participants to become "digitally economic."
She emphasized that ICT currently offers one of the most viable pathways to wealth creation and urged the women to maximize the knowledge gained.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards in various categories.
Notably, an Award of Excellence was presented to Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi on behalf of her husband, Governor Umar Namadi, recognizing him as the "Best Governor on Digital Economy."
