4 in police net over alleged robbery of motorcycles in Delta

The Police Command in Delta has arrested four members of an armed robbery gang that specialises in dispossessing riders of their motorcycles in the state.

The command’s Spokesman, SP Bright Edafe told newsmen on Monday in Warri that three motorcycles and two pump-action guns were recovered from the suspects.

“The suspects were arrested on July 27 by the operatives attached to the Ekpan Police Division in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state,’’ he said.

According to him, the arrest followed reports of robbery incidents involving the suspects along Jakpa Road.

“The police operatives launched a targeted investigation that led to the initial arrest of the two principal suspects, ‘’ Edafe said.

He further said that the two suspects provided investigators information that led to the arrest of two other members of their gang.

The command’s spokesman said that the four suspects were in police custody, adding that investigation was ongoing to apprehend remaining members of the gang and their subsequent prosecution.
