Woman raise alarm over safety of niece

A retired civil servant, Mrs. Bolajoko Idowu, has raised the alarm over ongoing attempts to harm her niece regarding an alleged offense.

Mrs. Idowu, who worked with the Ogun State Government until her retirement, made this known during a visit to the Iwe Iroyin secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Abeokuta to speak with reporters.

She explained that her niece, Opeoluwa Alabi, and her children were still living in fear and anxiety after Opeoluwa was allegedly caught in a romantic encounter with a friend, Abayomi Oluwaseun.

A few months ago, youths in the Olokuta community caused pandemonium when they protested against Opeoluwa’s alleged involvement in bisexual activity.

“There have been frantic but futile attempts by these youths to apprehend my niece and hand her over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution,” the 62-year-old retiree stated.

She noted that since April of this year, the youths had visited her residence in Roolu, Obantoko, more than five times carrying dangerous weapons. They warned her of severe consequences if her niece failed to surrender to the police.

“This whole situation is taking a serious toll on my health. I can no longer sleep peacefully because of these threats,” Mrs. Idowu said.

“The last time they came to my house, they met my children, Adeola and Oyindamola, as well as myself, and threatened to kill us if we did not produce Opeoluwa. Since then, my children have relocated to another community for fear of an attack,” she lamented.
