A senior staff member of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Mr. Salihu Muhammad Chimo, has recounted the devastating discovery of his 24-year-old daughter, Fatima Salihu Muhammad Chimo, five days after she went missing. Her body was found decomposed with missing organs.

Chimo, the immediate past Director of Academic Planning at the Polytechnic, who resides in the staff quarters, told our correspondent that Fatima was last seen on Thursday last week. She had gone on an errand to buy groceries in the neighbouring Birshin Fulani community, located just behind the Polytechnic perimeter fence.

"Every other sibling went to school. She was asked to get things to prepare food at about 10:00 am," Chimo said. "Since that time, we did not hear from anyone about her whereabouts. We reported it to the authorities."

The desperate search ended five days later. Chimo stated: “Some people called me from the leader of the Birshin Fulani community that they found a decomposing body inside a maize farm close to our quarter. Her corpse had started smelling. We noticed that they had removed some organs from her before dumping her in that place.”

The Bauchi Police Command, in a statement released on Tuesday, confirmed the incident and announced that a manhunt has been launched for the perpetrators of the heinous crime, vowing to ensure justice is delivered.

The Command's Spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, said that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has assembled a specialized team of experienced homicide investigators.

This team is tasked with conducting a thorough, methodical, and timely investigation "to gather evidence, eliminate uncertainties, and guarantee that justice is administered through a comprehensive process that adheres to all essential protocols necessary for a detailed investigation."
