2027: Unite to wrest power from APC in Lagos, DLA tells opposition

The Lagos State Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), Mr Richard Benson, has urged opposition parties to close ranks and present a common front ahead of the 2027 elections.

Benson made the appeal in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Lagos.

He said a united opposition was necessary to offer Lagos residents a credible alternative anchored on accountability and good governance.

According to him, only a coalition of opposition forces could bring about a change of government and deepen democratic participation.

Benson said such a partnership would promote youth development, inclusiveness, equity, social justice and competent, ethical leadership.

“I urge all opposition parties in Lagos to unite and take power from the ruling APC for the good of the people,” he said.

He alleged that governance in the state had favoured a narrow set of interests, at the expense of the wider populace.

Benson said a change of leadership would open up governance and guarantee fairness for all residents of the state.

“Power must change hands in 2027. When it does, the people will enjoy inclusiveness and greater participation at all levels,” he said.

The DLA chairman said the party was committed to good governance, accountable leadership and sustainable national development through democratic means.

According to him, the DLA represents the credible alternative that many Nigerians have long desired.

He said that under its national leader,  Samuel Memeh, the party sought to build strong institutions and accountable leadership.

Benson said the DLA was blessed with visionary leaders who placed national interest above personal ambition.

He pledged that the party would continue to champion ethical leadership, inclusive governance and sustainable development.

“We must build a society where justice prevails, opportunities are open to all and institutions remain strong,” he said.
