2027: Tambuwal withdraws from Sokoto South Senatorial race

The lawmaker representing the Sokoto South Senatorial District and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the 2027 senatorial race.

In his stead, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has endorsed Faruk Yabo, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, as its consensus candidate.

This move marks a significant shift for Tambuwal, who was a presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 before stepping down to support former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a related development, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya has emerged as the ADC’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Sokoto State.

Dan’iya previously served as the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State during Tambuwal’s tenure as governor.
