The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against any attempt to manipulate the 2027 general elections through glitches in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, told reporters on Monday that Nigerians would not accept technical excuses for failures in the electoral system.

“We as a party are going to take charge. Nigerians will not listen to any story about glitches. There must be none because the infrastructure in the country today can support it. If POS works in the remotest part of this country, BVAS should function seamlessly,” he said.

Ologunagba accused President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of “endorsement shopping” due to the PDP’s renewed strength ahead of the polls. He added that the APC has failed to deliver on promises, citing economic difficulties, rising taxes, and poor social services.

He emphasised that the credibility of the 2027 elections hinges on INEC’s ability to transmit polling unit results in real time.

“If POS works in every village, BVAS should work too. Anything to the contrary will amount to institutional manipulation. Nigerians are wiser now,” Ologunagba said.
