The Accord Party candidate for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in Osun State in the 2027 general elections, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi, has cautioned residents against accepting N20,000 from politicians to swear oaths at shrines for political purposes.
Olajengbesi gave the warning while addressing a large crowd of supporters in Ipetu-Ijesa where he also donated N20 million to support community development initiatives.
This was contained in a statement by spokesperson for the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organisation, Sodiq Lawal.
He assured residents of his commitment to improving their welfare and promoting development across the constituency, saying he considered himself one of them.
Olajengbesi urged residents not to allow politicians to lure them into taking oaths at shrines in exchange for N20,000, stressing that leadership should be built on trust and genuine service to the people.
He stressed that his contributions to the area were not driven by political ambition, noting that he had consistently supported community development long before his decision to seek elective office.
He commended the people of Ipetu-Ijesa for their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration and the Accord Party in Osun State during the last election, despite what he described as intimidation from the opposition.
Olajengbesi expressed profound appreciation to his supporters across Ijesa North Federal Constituency, particularly in Ipetu-Ijesa, including party leaders, mobilisers, and other stakeholders, for their unwavering support in his journey to securing the party’s candidacy.
