2027: Ogun West not divided over YAYI’s guber bid — Group

The Ogun West Progressive Unity Forum (OWPUF) has dismissed claims that Ogun West is divided over the governorship aspiration of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI.

The group insisted that the district remains united behind the lawmaker ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The group described reports suggesting opposition to Adeola’s ambition as misleading and the handiwork of individuals who lack the mandate to speak for the people of Ogun West.

In a statement on Friday, the Chairman of the forum, Chief Olubori Akinleye, said Adeola’s widespread acceptance across the senatorial district reflects his performance and sustained contributions to the development of the area.

He noted that constituency projects, educational support programmes, healthcare interventions, road infrastructure, and empowerment initiatives are among the achievements that have earned the senator the goodwill of the people.

Akinleye added that no amount of political propaganda or orchestrated gatherings could diminish Adeola’s contributions or the support he enjoys across Ogun West.

He said: “The attempt to manufacture a crisis where none exists is nothing more than a desperate political exercise that has already failed. The people of Ogun West are politically conscious and cannot be deceived by propaganda, sensational headlines, or carefully orchestrated political gatherings. They know those who have consistently identified with them, invested in their communities, and remained committed to their development.”

The OWPUF chairman maintained that the people of Ogun West would continue to make informed political decisions based on competence, credibility, and a proven commitment to development, rather than campaigns driven by personal interests.

He urged the public to disregard statements by individuals or groups claiming to represent Ogun West without the mandate or broad support of the people.

“We state, without any ambiguity, that Ogun West remains one united family. No individual or group, regardless of political affiliation or personal interest, can fracture the bond that has united our people across Yewa and Awori for decades,” he said.

Akinleye also appealed to residents of Ogun West to remain peaceful and united as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election gather momentum, urging them to stay focused on the district’s quest to produce the next governor of Ogun State.
