The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Rt. Honourable Salihu Yakubu-Danladi (SYD), has stated that his administrative experience and governance acumen over the past seven years position him to take the state to greater heights of sustainable development.
Danladi expressed confidence that, if elected in next year’s elections, Kwarans are in safe hands regarding governance and administration.
While addressing state correspondents on the “News Keg” platform on Friday in Ilorin, Danladi noted that for years, he has chaired the state’s budget committee and made remarkable contributions to the overall development of the state through adequate budgetary allocations and oversight functions.
According to him, “I spearheaded the budget of the state for seven years. Most ongoing infrastructural developments are with the support of the State Assembly,” adding that, “We do the appropriation while the executive does the implementation.”
He stressed that no candidate among the other political parties is as grounded as he is, stating, “No candidate is as experienced as me.”
Promising to run an inclusive government, SYD described his mandate as the APC flagbearer as a joint ticket for all Kwarans, transcending party and ethnic affiliations.
The lawmaker recalled his developmental contributions to his constituency (Ilesha-Baruba-Gwanara) and Baruten Local Government, which include training 300 vigilantes to stem insecurity in the area.
“I will build on the legacies of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who has laid an enduring template in education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and social welfare, among others, for the development of the state,” he added.
Danladi noted that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq remains the father of modern Kwara, which is the pride of all, pointing out that Kwara will no longer lag behind in terms of sustainable development.
Earlier, the Chairman of News Keg, Alhaji Ibrahim Alege, explained that the essence of the event is to shift the conversation from political permutations and party interests to the real issues that affect the lives of the people.
“This platform is therefore not about political endorsement, but constructive engagement and accountability,” he explained.
According to him, “Our focus this time is on different candidates of political parties in the state, providing them the opportunity to tell the people what they have to offer, their visions, policies, and plans for the development of our dear state.” over the past seven years position him to take the state to greater heights of sustainable development.
