The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has urged Nigerians to join the party as part of a collective effort to build a better and more inclusive nation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mark made the call in his New Year message to Nigerians, contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Kano by his Special Adviser on Media, Paul Mumeh.

Reflecting on the challenges of 2025, the former Senate President acknowledged that many Nigerians endured severe economic hardships, including rising costs of living, food, essential drugs and transportation.

He criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over what he described as the imposition of stringent tax policies, warning that such measures could deepen hardship and “renew hopelessness” among citizens.

Mark said 2025 was a particularly difficult year for most Nigerians but noted that it also marked a turning point with the launch of a united opposition coalition under the ADC on July 2.

“Yet, 2025 also brought a defining moment: the launch of Nigeria’s opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress,” he said.

According to him, the party has since received overwhelming support and encouragement from Nigerians across the country, which he described as a strong signal of public desire for change.

Mark emphasised that the ADC is driven by patriotism and a genuine commitment to serving the people, urging Nigerians to put aside doubts and join what he called the party’s historic mission.

“We do not claim to be perfect, but do not doubt our sense of duty and our commitment to be on the good side of history,” he said.

He expressed confidence in the power of the people to effect positive change and reaffirmed his belief that a better Nigeria is achievable through collective action and responsible leadership under the ADC.
