2027: APC Chieftain urges unity, backs Bolarinwa

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called for unity among party members and aspirants ahead of the party’s governorship primaries.

Issa-Onilu, who is the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), made the call in a statement on Thursday, noting increased political activities within the party as aspirants declare interest in the governorship ticket.

He said only one candidate would emerge from the primaries and urged stakeholders to support the eventual flagbearer in the interest of the party’s success.

“In recent months, we have witnessed a surge in political activities as many have stepped forward to vie for the governorship ticket of our party. I commend the maturity shown by aspirants throughout this process,” he said.

Issa-Onilu stressed the need for unity, urging party members to rally behind the chosen candidate after the primaries.

“With only one ticket available, it is essential that we unite and support the candidate that emerges. Our shared commitment to the development of the state must guide our actions,” he added.

He declared his support for a former APC state chairman, Dr Basir Omolaja Bolarinwa, urging aspirants and party members to work together.

“He is a man I believe deserves the support of the party,” he said.

Issa-Onilu also called on aspirants for the National and State Assemblies to demonstrate understanding and remain committed to the party.

He urged members to sustain the momentum of the “Otoge” political movement, expressing confidence in the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.

“We succeeded in 2019 and 2023, and I am confident we can achieve victory again in 2027,” he said.
