Rivers Gov Fubara officially registers with APC

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has formally registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party confirmed on Friday.

A photograph shared by Tony Okocha, media aide to the state APC chairman, shows Fubara placing his thumbprint in the party’s register during the ceremony at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

Governor Fubara had earlier announced his intention to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC on Tuesday.

He said the move was in the best interest of the people of Rivers State and also a gesture of gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, whom he credited as instrumental to his continued tenure as governor.

“The decision to join APC is to ensure that the people of Rivers State continue to benefit from effective governance,” Fubara said, acknowledging Tinubu’s role in his political journey.

The registration formalises the governor’s defection and positions him within the APC as he prepares for upcoming political engagements in the state.
