‎A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has declared that the upcoming 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun will serve as a critical measure of the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
‎
‎Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye emphasized that securing the two states is essential for APC to maintain its political momentum.
‎
He argued that a “landslide victory” in Ekiti on June 20 and Osun on August 15 would solidify the foundation for President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid in 2027.
‎
‎“The Ekiti and Osun elections are very crucial because they will be conducted just a few months before the general elections,” Oyintiloye stated. “The party must win both to boost confidence and reinforce our supremacy in the national political landscape.”
‎
‎The party chieftain called for total unity among members, noting that the leadership in Osun, including the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; National Secretary, Sen. Ajibola Basiru; and State Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal is working tirelessly to ensure a favorable outcome.
‎
‎Oyintiloye expressed high confidence in the party’s prospects in Osun, citing the selection of Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji as the APC candidate.
‎
He described Oyebamiji as a “capable, reliable, and dependable” figure who enjoys broad acceptance across the state’s electorate.
‎
‎As the political clock ticks toward 2026, the APC appears to be framing these off-cycle elections not just as local contests, but as a strategic preview of the 2027 national showdown.
