2 in court for alleged possession of diesel

Two men, Onibedo Oluwadare, 40, and Bolaji Olatunbosun, 46, were, on Monday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly being in possession of kegs of diesel.

The defendants, of unknown address, are facing a charge of possession of kegs of diesel.

They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them

The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on July 27 at about 12:30 a.m in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendants had in their possession some kegs of diesel suspected to have been stolen.

Oriyomi said the offence contravenes Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

The counsel to the first defendant, Mr Chris Omokhafe and the counsel to second defendant, Mr Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant the defendants bail with a promise that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50, 000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

He adjourned the case till Aug.28, for hearing.
