Your victory a triumph for merit —Tinubu congratulates Badejo-Okusanya

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her election as the first elected and second female President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
In a statement released on Tuesday, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the victory as a triumph for merit, professional excellence, and gender inclusion.
President Tinubu noted that Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya’s distinguished career marked by integrity, professionalism, and an unyielding commitment to justice has rightly earned her the trust of legal practitioners nationwide.
The President also affirmed that her victory underscores the growing recognition of women’s vital contributions to national development and judicial administration.
He expressed confidence that her leadership would further fortify the legal profession, uphold the rule of law, and expand access to justice for all Nigerians.
The President called on the new NBA President to collaborate closely with key stakeholders to drive deep-seated judicial reforms, defend constitutional sanctity, and strengthen the bar as an indispensable pillar of Nigerian democracy.
In his direct message to the President-elect, President Tinubu charged her to foster internal unity within the bar following the election, urging her to reach out to fellow contestants and address issues arising from the polls.
“I extend my hearty congratulations to the President-elect of the NBA for her victory. As the first elected female president of the Association of Lawyers in Nigeria, Mrs. Badejo-Okusanya has made history. She has once again shown that our women can attain any height in pursuit of excellence in their careers and ambitions, both in the private sector and in public service.”
“I urge you to reach out to the other contestants, unify the bar, and make efforts to correct issues that arose during your election. I wish you a successful tenure and service to the legal profession and our country at large,” the President is quoted as saying.
Assuring the association of his administration’s continued partnership, President Tinubu reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working alongside the NBA to deepen democratic governance, safeguard human rights, and build a prosperous, united nation.
